In America, we struggle with the idea of how a merciful God could ever punish anyone eternally in hell. It just doesn’t seem fair. However, in the Bible, the bigger problem is how can a just God actually declare sinners to be not guilty? That is the very heart of what we are looking at in this episode of Romans Untangled.
Comparison. It is something we do every single day. How am I doing in my job? Do I shovel the walk as good as my neighbors? Are my kids as well behaved as our friend’s kids? In Romans 4 the apostle Paul will be “checking his work” like a math problem to see if his answer of grace alone, Christ alone, faith alone, by God’s word alone, for God’s glory alone works though out the Old Testament.
